When You Have a Cold!

If you've ever met Alfie — our royal resident at Ewor House — you already know he's small in size, massive in personality, and possibly reincarnated from someone who used to run a palace.
Recently, Alfie caught a bit of a cold. A teeny, tiny cold. A little sniffle. And as any good dachshund will tell you, this was a medical crisis of the highest order.
Rule 1: Thou Shalt Not Walk When One Has the Sniffles
As soon as his little nose started running, Alfie was done. Done walking. Done standing. Done being expected to function like a regular dog.
Instead, he summoned his humans with the most dramatic sigh you've ever heard and demanded to be carried everywhere. Room to room, couch to bed, bed to sun patch — like a small, snorting pharaoh.
Rule 2: Food Tastes Better When Lifted to Your Mouth
Apparently, when one is suffering, one must not lower oneself to eat like a common pet. Oh no — biscuits must be presented. Lifted. Coaxed. Gently guided to the mouth like an offering.
We complied. Obviously. Because who can resist the wet nose, the wide eyes, and the little foot twitch of protest?
Rule 3: All Illnesses Require Immediate and Excessive Cuddles
Alfie didn't just want attention — he needed emergency-grade snuggles. Belly rubs were mandatory. Nose kisses, frequent. Emotional support blankets: on standby.
At one point, he managed to look offended that we were even speaking to each other and not 100% focused on his delicate condition.
Rule 4: Recovery is a Performance
Once the cold began to lift (dramatically, we might add), Alfie made sure we celebrated it with equal flair. He leapt from the couch like a conquering hero. Barked at the wind. Demanded a walk and then stopped halfway to look confused about why we weren’t carrying him anymore.
Final Thoughts from His Royal Shortness
Alfie reminds us that being cared for is a right (not a luxury), drama is self-expression, and there’s no such thing as too many kisses. Whether your pet needs a casual cuddle or full-on butler service during a sniffly week — we’ve got you.
Because here at Ewor House, we don’t just walk pets. We serve royalty. Even when they're a bit snotty.
